TheEliteExtremophile Deep Reef Dream is a very fun record that balances big, melodic hooks alongside odder instrumental excursions. The addition of violin and trumpet to the band’s sound has been a massive boon; those instruments add a new layer of depth that feels completely natural. There’s a little bit of something for everybody on this record, and it gels in an amazingly cohesive way.

Deep Reef Dream (2022) is the atmospheric and experimental third release from The Light in the Ocean. With the addition of Stephen Decker & Chris Lyons, the group adds a plethora of new instruments and textures to their sonic range. Written and recorded durng the early stages of COVID, DRD brings in horns, 3-part vocal harmonies, electronic elements, and 100% more violin than previous releases. With modern production, DRD hints at progressive 70's rock while pushing the envelope on musical textures with highly memorable melodies. Look for them live in 2022 as well as a physical release.
